Ph and Finger

What do you do if you need to find the e-mail address or phone number of another student on campus? What if you get e-mail from an address you've never seen before?

Eudora users can solve both these problems by using ph and finger.

Ph gives you access to the UIUC on-line phone book, which includes all undergrads, grad students, and professors. Finger gives you information on an e-mail address.

Here's how to use ph and finger:

  1. choose Ph from the Windows menu.

  2. If you want information about a person, type their name after Command and click on "Ph."


  3. If you want information about an e-mail address, type the e-mail address after Command and click on "finger"

Note:information about other people's email addresses is usually, but not always available using finger.
